About Me
I have been working in the mental health field for over 21 years. I started out counselling homeless teens at the House of Friendship Men's Shelter. Since then, I've worked with adults with severe and persistent mental health struggles for most of my career. A highlight of my career was receiving the Christine Wilson Outstanding Housing Community Worker award, along with my team. I thrive on giving compassion and support to those struggling with life's challenges. Although I continue to work in a clinical mental health setting, private counselling has become a life-giving and creative part of my vocation as well.
I developed a love for the outdoors growing up in Northern Ontario. I spend every day doing something outside, such as running, hiking, snowboarding, and skiing. I also enjoy photography and reading history. I have been married for over 21 years to the love of my life and have two children. I studied political science at Laurier, then went on to do a Master's degree in Theological Studies (McMaster) and finally completed my education with a Master's of Social Work (University of Windsor). I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers. I have called this area home for my entire married life and am firmly rooted in the core of Waterloo Region.
